I'm Rohan Soun— a CPA-qualified accountant and registered BAS agent, and the founder of Y & A Bookkeeping Solutions Aust.

Here's something you might not expect: as a CPA, I bring a deeper accounting background than most bookkeepers have. But I'm not a registered tax agent, and I don't do tax work — and that's deliberate.

There's no shortage of bookkeepers in Australia. What's harder to find is a bookkeeper who's also a CPA. Most bookkeeping is done by people trained specifically in bookkeeping — good at what they do, but without the deeper accounting background that comes from CPA training. I built Y & A to close that gap: bookkeeping and management reporting done to the same standard of accuracy an accountant would expect, because I am one.

A lot of accountants don't actually want to do bookkeeping. It's time-consuming, it's not what they trained for, and it pulls them away from the advisory and tax work that's actually valuable to their clients — but it still has to get done, and done properly, or it becomes their problem at tax time anyway.

That's exactly where I fit in. I handle the bookkeeping to an accountant-ready standard — reconciled, accrual-accurate, properly categorized — so that when it lands on an accountant's desk, it's ready to review and lodge, not ready to be redone. No overlap with what they do, no competition for their clients, just cleaner handoffs and less cleanup on both ends.
